You are invited to our Easter Sunrise Service which starts at 6am. Come and join us as we celebrate the resurrection miracle of our Lord Jesus, and rejoice in all that this has provided for us who believe in Him. Look around at the many grave sites and consider that, “He is not here – in any of them. He is risen! He is risen indeed!!”
April 18, 2014
Please join us for our Good Friday service on April 18th starting at 9am. We will focus on the significance and meaning of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God touch and move in those who come to understand and believe in all that has been written and the truth about Jesus. All are welcome – bring your friends!

You are invited to come and join us for our Palm Friday Service on April 11. As we meet on Friday’s, this is the day we celebrate “Palm Sunday.” The service will be opened with the children greeting our Lord Jesus with the Hosanna song as they carry in some palm branches. This is in remembrance of the time when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and the people showed their respect as they laid palm branches and even their cloaks in the path for the donkey to walk on. All the people were exclaiming, “Hosanna to the Lord!” This means, “he saves,” and was used as a greeting and exclamation of joy at the prospect of welcoming their King. The details in scripture are rich in meaning and the hope that the people had at that time, and that we have now, as we wait for the return of our Lord and Savior as the King of God’s Kingdom.

As the weather is getting warmer, it is a nice idea to enjoy some time together in fellowship and sharing a picnic lunch in the park. Our plans have changed so that now we plan to meet at St. Michael’s in the garden for our picnic. Please bring your table cloths, blankets etc. to sit on the grass… just like if we were at a park. It’s at 4pm. All are welcome

We are planning our annual International Evening for February 21. This is a favorite event for HCC when we are able to celebrate the diversity of the nationalities and cultures represented in the congregation. Knowing that we are unified in our belief in the LORD Jesus Christ, we enjoy the differences of how to express worship, share our national food specialties, and cultural traditions. It is encouraging to get to know each other better in this way and to recognize our varied backgrounds. All are welcome.

Our annual Women’s Retreat is planned as an overnight event on Friday/Saturday, January 17/18. The ladies and youth girls love this special time apart: apart from the big city of Cairo, and apart from everyday activities. We focus on worship, the Word, meditation/quiet time, as well as fellowship and building relationships.
This year, our speaker is The Rev. Rebecca Kirkpatrick, who is a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She served for ten years as Associate Pastor for Education, Youth and Mission at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in South Bend, Indiana, USA.
The message is about “The Friendship of Women: the hidden tradition of the Bible.” Using Sr. Joan Chittister’s book of the same name, we will explore the qualities that we find essential in our relationships with one another, and reflect on how they are represented by women in scripture. We will also take the time to reflect prayerfully on these qualities, our relationships with one another and how we can cultivate deep and valuable friendships.

HCC’s traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is a wonderful time to focus on the main event and reason for Christmas – the birth of God’s own Son, Jesus. Born in like manner as His brothers and sisters here on earth, in lowly circumstances, He accepted God’s will for His life, death and resurrection; and ushered in the New Covenant of peace between God and man. It is this Jesus that we celebrate and recognize: not just His first coming in the form of a baby in the manger in Bethlehem, but also as being reborn in our hearts as we accept Him and the gospel, the “Good News.” And we also look to the future time when He will return to earth again as King of kings and Lord of lords.
This is the Jesus Christ that we remember today. This is the Advent that we are preparing for – the coming of Christ our Lord – the anointed one.
All are welcome to the worship service! Bring your friends.
