Farewell Potluck – Friday, May 19th @ 6pm

What a bitter-sweet thing:
To be living in Egypt, which is the cross roads of the Middle East, and to meet so many wonderful people from around the world at our international church. This is so sweet: a taste of what the Word speaks of when all nations, tribes and tongues will worship together at the foot of our King’s throne.

But then, as people come to our ex-pat church, they also leave and move away. So every year we welcome newcomers with a “Welcome Potluck,” and then bless those leaving with a “Farewell Potluck,” And it’s that time again.

On Friday, May 19th, we are planning our Farewell Potluck (covered dish meal) and take the time to acknowledge, bless and pray for those who will be leaving or moving away. All are welcome (no pun intended) to share this precious time. We will meet in the garden in Cairo’s fresh air for fellowship and a shared meal. Please bring your favorite foods to contribute to the meal.

Easter Sunrise Service – 6am on April 1st

Our Easter Sunrise Service starts at 6am on April 1st. Come and join us as we celebrate the resurrection miracle of our Lord Jesus, and rejoice in all that this has provided for us who believe in Him.

Look around at the many grave sites and consider that, “He is not here.”
He is risen!
He is risen indeed!!

We will meet at a graveyard nearby. Please see the Friday bulletin at church for more details.

HCC’s All Family Retreat: April 28 – May 1

This year, we are happy that Jim and Judi Braddy will join us to lead the sessions entitled, “Family in Ministry.” We are also excited about a team coming from Barcelona to lead the worship, the children’s program, and the youth group’s program.
Sign up is completed and now closed.

Worship Evening – March 7 @ 7PM

You are invited to join with us for an evening of worship on Friday, March 7th, starting at 7pm.
What a joyful time – to come and worship the LORD. We are blessed with this freedom here in Egypt, and we are very grateful for this. It is a significant time, when we gather in Jesus’ Name and unite to worship, pray, and read the Word together.

As we humble ourselves, come into agreement with the Grace and Truth that Jesus brought, and in agreement with each other in praising and rejoicing in the LORD, please consider these scriptures:

Psalm 104:33
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Psalm 146:2 I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.”

Guest Preacher – March 17, 2017 @ 9am

This Friday during our 9am worship service, we have invited a guest preacher to our pulpit. Dr. James K. Hoffmeier plans to bring the message entitled, “Your Word is Truth,” based on Joshua 1 :1-9.

Dr. Hoffmeier is Professor of Old Testament and Ancient Near Eastern History and Archaeology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He specializes in issues of Old Testament historicity and archaeology.

During the period from 1975 to 1977 he worked on the Akhenaten Temple Project based in Luxor. He has been the Professor of Archaeology and Old Testament at Wheaton College. He was director of excavations at Tell el-Borg, Sinai from 1998 to 2008. Additionally he is often called upon to consultant for television programs made for the History, Discovery, Learning and National Geographic Channels. International Evening-March 24 @ 5pm

Our annual International Evening is a favorite event for HCC when we are able to celebrate the diversity of the nationalities and cultures represented in the congregation. Knowing that we are unified in our belief in the LORD Jesus Christ, we enjoy the differences of how to express worship, share our national food specialties, and cultural traditions. It is encouraging to get to know each other better in this way and to recognize our varied backgrounds.

We plan to start the evening with a shared meal by those preparing food as cooked in their home countries. It’s a taste from around the world! Then the program portion uses the gifts and talents of those representing their countries culture with song, dance, video’s etc. So much diversity and fun from the far corners of the earth.

Seminar Series for March 17 & 31 @ 6pm

Our March Seminar Series by Dr. Nairy is planned for the 17th and 31st from 6 – 7pm

March 17— “Bi-cultural Marriages”
Do two different cultural/ethnic backgrounds impact a marriage? If so, in which areas: Communication, parenting, goals, etc.?  We will learn about the benefits and challenges as Dr. Nairy facilitates a conversation with a panel of 4 couples who are in Bi-Cultural marriages. There will be opportunity for questions and answers with the panelists as well.

March 31— “Singles and Marrieds In Community”
Our community is a wonderful mix of married and single men and women.  Our needs, desires, and visions can often vary or conflict.  What would singles like marrieds to know and understand and vice versa for marrieds?  Enjoy an evening of insightful conversation as we grow in love and honor of one another.

Dr. Nairy has been involved in cross cultural ministry for the last 25 years.  She holds a Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling and has written a book on her experiences of living and serving globally.  She is a big advocate of taking a weekly Sabbath rest and enjoys watercolor painting, journaling, fitness training, and studying languages; currently Arabic.
Egypt holds a special place in Nairy’s heart as her mother was born and raised in Heliopolis.

TCK Seminar Series – Feb 17 & 24 @ 6pm

Welcome to our free Seminar Series on TCK (Third Culture Kids or Cross Cultural Kids) February 17 & 24 at 6pm.

How would your child answer the following questions? “Where are you from?” or “Where is home?” It may seem like an easy answer for you, “Egypt, the U.S., Canada, Australia, India, Nigeria….” But for your child, who is growing up overseas or in a multicultural family, the answers may not be as simple. How can we help our children celebrate their unique stories and make the most of their experiences? How can we support them in their life journeys?

HCC will present a two-part series on Third Culture Kids/Cross Culture Kids. We invite teachers, Adult TCKs, parents of TCKs, parents of multicultural families, and other interested individuals to join our free seminars.

February 17 – Part 1 – Benefits and Challenges of Growing Up as a Third Culture or Cross Cultural Kid

February 24 – Part 2 – Through the Eyes of a Third Culture or Cross Cultural Kid

Presenter: F. Kenoyer, Ph.D. – Adult TCK and Experienced Educator working with Third Culture and Cross Cultural Kids

Worship & Prayer Evening – Jan 27 @ 7pm

An evening of Worship and Prayer is planned as the finale for our Week of Prayer (January 20 – 27). All are welcome to attend and bring their friends as well. We are rejoicing in the new year and all that God has planned for this time.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Dec 24, 2016 @ 5pm

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service:
This is our traditional service on the eve before Christmas Day. We start at 5pm on Saturday, December 24, so that the whole family can be included. Each year, we are blessed to be able to gather together to worship, praise, sing carols and lift up the LORD Jesus as we celebrate the remembrance of His birth on earth. What a privilege and pleasure to do so here in Egypt, the country that Joseph and Mary brought Him to not long after his birth.
Come and celebrate with us! All are welcome.
