Christmas Celebrations 2016 for HCC

This year, 2016, HCC is observing three main celebrations for Christmas –
1) Friday, December 9th at 6pm – HCC Christmas Celebration & Children’s Song: This is a time of celebrating for the whole family. We will sing carols, listen to the Children’s Christmas songs and have the opportunity to partake of a family communion service.

2) Wednesday, December 14th at 7:30pm -Christmas at the Basilica: Located on Al Haram St, Korba, Heliopolis, we have observed the tradition of listening to the scripture account of Jesus’ birth, and celebrating with all singing Christmas hymns and songs. This has been a tradition for many years. Each year there are some special musical performances and different participants and artists.

All are welcome! Please invite your friends and neighbors too.

3) Saturday, December 24th at 5:00pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service:
This is our traditional service on the eve before Christmas Day. We start at 5pm so that the whole family can be included. Each year, we are blessed to be able to gather together to worship, praise, sing carols and lift up the LORD Jesus as we celebrate the remembrance of His birth on earth. What a privilege and pleasure to do so here in Egypt, the country that Joseph and Mary brought Him to not long after his birth.
Come and celebrate with us! All are welcome.

Worship Evening Oct 14 – 6pm

You are invited to join with us for an evening of worship on Friday, October 14, starting at 6pm.
What a joyful time – to come and worship the LORD. We are blessed with this freedom here in Egypt, and we are very grateful for this. It is a significant time, when we gather in Jesus’ Name and unite to worship, pray, read the Word together. As we humble ourselves, come into agreement with the Grace and Truth that Jesus brought, and in agreement with each other in praising and rejoicing in the LORD, please consider these scriptures:
Psalm 104:33
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Psalm 146:2 I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.”

HCC Family Reunion Potluck – Sept 23

It’s almost like a new year here at HCC, when many new comers arrive during August and September. Also, many of those who traveled for the summer have returned.

Well, it’s more like a Family Reunion! Time to get caught up with what folks did during the summer, and also a great time to get to know our new arrivals.

We will meet in the church garden at 6pm. Please bring plenty of your favorite foods to share. This will be a special time of fellowship and getting to know each other.

Farewell Potluck – Friday, May 20th

What a bitter-sweet thing:
To be living in Egypt, which is the cross roads of the Middle East, and to meet so many wonderful people from around the world at our international church. This is so sweet: a taste of what the Word speaks of when all nations, tribes and tongues will worship together at the foot of our King’s throne.

But then, as people come to our ex-pat church, they also leave and move away. So every year we welcome newcomers with a “Welcome Potluck,” and then bless those leaving with a “Farewell Potluck,” And it’s that time again.

On Friday, May 20th, we are planning our Farewell Potluck (covered dish meal) and take the time to acknowledge, bless and pray for those who will be leaving or moving away. All are welcome (no pun intended) to share this precious time. We will meet in the garden in Cairo’s fresh air for fellowship and a shared meal. Please bring your favorite foods to contribute to the meal.

Note: more details will be in the bulletin.

HCC-ACC Family Retreat (April 22-25)

We are planning on our annual church family retreat on Aril 22 – 25. It will be for 3 nights this year, as April 25 is the Sinai Liberation Holiday. As usual, we will go to beautiful Beit El Salam beside the Mediterranean Sea.
New this year is that ACC (Alexandria Community Church) will be joining us. We will also have some special fun and faith-building activities for the youth group as well as a separate program for the children.
Please see the bulletin for more information

Easter Sunrise Service – March 27 at 6AM

Our Easter Sunrise Service which starts at 6am on March 27th. Come and join us as we celebrate the resurrection miracle of our Lord Jesus, and rejoice in all that this has provided for us who believe in Him. Look around at the many grave sites and consider that, “He is not here – in any of them. He is risen! He is risen indeed!!”
Please see the bulletin for more details.

Welcome to HCC

Dear visitor,

Welcome to Heliopolis Community Church where the body of Christ from around the world comes together to worship our living Savior.  Whether you are just vacationing in Egypt or moving here to stay, we invite you to come to worship with us.

HCC is an international and interdenominational church.  On any given Friday there may be over 20 different nationalities represented in our service.

Our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable as they come into God’s presence to worship.  Every time we meet, it reminds us of Revelation 7:9 which says that there were people…  “from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.”  We truly lay aside all our differences and focus on what we have in common, the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Being in the crossroads of the Middle East, we are constantly welcoming newcomers, and saying good-bye to others. However long your stay is, we invite you to consider making HCC your church home in Egypt.

Our worship service starts at 10am on Friday mornings. Plan to stay a little extra time after the service, if you would like, and “hang out” in the garden for informal fellowship to get to know people of our church. We also have home groups which meet at various times during the week in different homes.

We trust that your time here in Egypt will be a blessing to each of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us, we’d love to have you as part of our family!

BBQ & Movie – “Palm Friday” – March 18

As we meet on Fridays, we make mention of the final week of Jesus’ earthly life from Friday, March 18, rather than Sunday. We plan for our Friday morning worship service, which starts at 9AM.
In the afternoon, starting after the Youth Group meeting (which is from 4 – 6PM), we are looking forward to some family time together with a BBQ (not a Texas BBQ – but some simple outdoor grilling) and a shared meal in the garden. This will be topped off by a family style movie.
We are looking forward to sharing this lovely spring weather together. Invite you friends! Please see the bulletin for more information.
