Tour to Moquattam with the Cave Churches, Center of Love and recycling center (APE)

We have not been on a tour of Moquattam as a fellowship event for several years. So it is a real pleasure to look forward to this time. Actually, it was planned for last Friday, but the bus company postponed it due to the rain on Thursday causing the streets in Moquattam to become very muddy and too difficult to negotiate. There are many websites that describe them: http://www.amusingplanet.com/2013/09/the-cave-church-of-zabbaleen-in-cairo.html

We are looking forward to seeing the various Cave Churches and enjoy their history, beauty and setting. What a wonderful thing – to use what is available to make a church “building” where many can worship the LORD.

Next on the list is to visit the Center of Love where some HCC members volunteer their love and service to the disabled people. This has been such a blessing to many in the area. Please see their website for more information: http://www.centerofloveegypt.com/

And our final stop will be at the recycle center, APE (The Association For The Protection Of The Environment). Again, this is a case of the ingenious use of resources – what is available – by the Egyptian Christians who recycle so much of what is discarded by others. There are numerous websites that you can see if interested. Here are a few:

Fellowship Event: Movie night on Friday, October 17

We are planning a fellowship event – something to bring the HCC family together for a social evening. This month, we plan to view a film that the whole family can enjoy together. Please come and maybe bring some popcorn or other munchies to share. The canteen will be open to purchase cold sodas, water etc. Bring your friends. We plan to start around 5:30pm.

Come and Celebrate!

We have been invited to share in a celebration for 25 years of marriage for one of our HCC families:
“We want to celebrate our 25th Anniversary this year with our Cairo friends. On Friday, Aug 1, from 6pm – 9 pm in the HCC fellowship Hall, we are having a dancing celebration! Please come and join us for cake, music, and a great time. Bring your dancing shoes and a funky outfit! See ya there!”

Farewell Potluck (Covered Dish Meal) @ 6pm

Our annual “Farewell Potluck” May 24th. All are welcome as we share a covered dish (potluck) meal and say “Farewell” to those who are leaving HCC and moving back to their home country or on to other places. We want to pray for those leaving and acknowledge and bless them. A time of sweet sorrow and fellowship, we know that even though we will miss our dear brothers and sisters, we remember what the scripture says:
“4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4

Fellowship and Fun starting at 6pm: Game night

We are planning a series of fellowship evenings on Fridays. We will be enjoying some fun times with game evenings, movie evenings, activity evenings, BBQ and prayer evenings… a variety geared for the whole HCC family. All are welcome!

This Friday, starting at 6pm, we are planning a game night with board games and other indoor games.

Psalm 103:17

But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children–

Exodus 20:12

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
